Several years ago, back around 2012/2013, artist Leigh Walls and I did stories for the first and second volumes of an anthology series called Memoirs of the Mysterious, featuring short sci-fi and horror stories in the vein of old pulp magazines.
This is the second we did and a one I've always dearly loved. There's a sweet kind of sad innocence to it that that embodies a certain kind of science-fiction that was popular in the 40s and 50s but which we seem to have lost. It has been years since I read this story, but when I did find it in my files, I enjoyed it so much I knew I had to share it again with the world in an easily accessible format.
