Back in 2012, I was going through a creative slump and to get myself going again, I challenged myself to write an entire three-issue comic story in a single week. I had done a short story with the very talented artist Stefano Cardoselli not long before and decided to write this comic-challenge project as something that'd play to Stefano's strengths - a violent, darkly-comic fantasy along the lines of TALES OF TELGUUTH (which Stefano had done some work on for 2000 AD) or SLAINE (also a 2000 AD series).
The series was going to feature Teag u Fyess, a fierce-fighting but very naive barbarian warrior who thought of little but carousing and making a name for himself, getting caught up in the schemes of a group of poachers hunting the last living dragon in the world, and along the way realizing that there's more to life than your own gratification.
Well, I completed the writing challenge but one thing lead to another and the series didn't end up being finished. Several pages of the first issue were, though, and were going to appear in an anthology as a sort of preview, but that book never happened and it'd be a shame to let these pages just sit on my hard-drive forever, so here is an excerpt from the first issue of LANDS OF TANITH.
